Description

Description

“Small” languages, great literatures Les Éditions Bleu et Jaune have created, in 2020, a collection of contemporary European literature to highlight the less widespread languages of Europe. In fact, minority languages represent only 10% of titles translated in France – the percentage of rare European languages being even less –, while the market for foreign literature is extremely productive there: one book in six is a translated book. Rich in the successful implementation of this collection and a favorable reception from French and French-speaking readers vis-à-vis European works, Les Éditions Bleu et Jaune are committed to continuing this European literary adventure with the present project which revolves around two axes: Ukraine and Europe. Indeed, Ukrainian is one of those less widely European languages and, in the context of the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, it is our duty to pay particular attention to the Ukrainian literature, which, now more than ever, is a spokesperson for this country in the process of defending democratic European values. With this project, Les Éditions Bleu et Jaune continue to contribute to the promotion of cultural and linguistic diversity and to strengthen the circulation of works of contemporary European literature to intensify intercultural exchanges in Europe and beyond.
