1 GW Solar Power Project in Syria

The Syrian Ministry of Energy has signed final concession agreements with a consortium led by Qatar’s UCC Holding to develop and operate a series of solar power projects totaling 1,000 MW across Syria. The solar component covers four sites: Widian Al-Rabee, Deir Ezzor, Aleppo, and Homs, with planned capacities ranging between 200 MW and 300 MW each. The projects will be implemented under a concession framework granting the consortium the right to build, operate, and manage the plants, supplying power to the national grid under terms agreed with the Syrian Electricity Company. The consortium includes UCC's subsidiary Urbacon Concessions Investment, Kalyon G.I.S. Energy, Cengiz Energy, and Power International (USA). The agreements mark the transition from preparatory and technical phases to on-site implementation.
