100 Mile House - Horse Lake Road Bridge Replacement

The project will increase the access to 100 Mile House by replacing the existing timber Horse Lake Bridge with a two-lane steel/concrete bridge and a single side walk/bike path. The new bridge structure will provide a service life on the order of 75 years based on current BC Ministry of Transportation requirements and will provide a safe pedestrian/bike path. Currently the timber bridge is in poor condition and reaching the end of its life. Load restrictions have been posted in order to extend the life of the existing bridge. Without the bridge, the residents east of the bridge would have a 35km detour to 100 Mile House which would significantly disrupt residents as well as emergency services vehicles. The project works will include: - demolition of existing bridge; - temporary bridge installation for use during the construction period and removal; - new concrete-filled steel pipe piles; - concrete bridge girders installation; - concrete bridge decking installation; - concrete parapet with steel railing; - guardrail; and - related works
