120 North Redwood Emergency Backup Power

On January 14, 2020 the Board approved the Marin Emergency Back-up Power Project in the aftermath of PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shut-off (PSPS) events throughout Marin County and the State in 2019. The primary goal of this project was the evaluation of existing electrical power systems at several key County facilities and to perform the design development for the capability of emergency back-up power in the event of loss of utility power due to unforeseen failures or planned shutoffs such as PSPS. Phase II recommendation is to provide backup power at 120 North Redwood, which provides a wide array of social services to our community. This project will install transfer switches and related emergency backup power improvements and equipment at the 120 North Redwood location. These improvements and equipment will allow a portable generator to connect to the building providing the power to continue building operations when utility power is not in service.
