Description

Description

The project involves the development of up to 130 new homes on the vacant land at Church Place in Felling, Gateshead. This mixed housing scheme will deliver a range of one, two, three, and four-bedroom houses, with a strong emphasis on family accommodation — approximately 63% of the units featuring three or more bedrooms. As part of the Gateshead Regeneration Partnership’s wider efforts to address local housing needs, the development will include 3.1% affordable housing on site, with the remainder of the required affordable provision delivered across other linked regeneration sites such as Brandling, Beacon Lough, Dixon Street, and Elizabethville. The plans were unanimously approved by Gateshead Council’s planning committee in June 2026, despite objections from Gateshead Football Club regarding the loss of potential open space and community sporting opportunities.
