Description

This project is a transportation enhancement in Muscogee County. The 14th Street Bridge pedestrian project will connect the riverwalk projects in Georgia and Alabama. The project consist of rehabilitation and stabilization of the bridge. The construction will include structural stabilization improvements and conversion of the bridge into a pedestrian/bike facility. The project will reconstruct the existing bridge footings and provide scour protection. The exterior of the bridge will be cleaned and patched with like materials. The existing slab, deck, and railings will be reconstructed. The railings will be designed to look as similar as possible to the existing ones. The deck will consist of brick pavers similar to those on the Riverwalk. Interpretive kiosks will be placed along the bridge documenting the historic industrial development of the area along the Riverwalk. The project is 720 feet long.
