In order to proactively begin the process of replacing the structure, the City has received federal funding assistance through the Illinois Special Bridge Program. The current traffic volumes indicate that a three lane bridge section may be an adequate replacement. The preliminary engineering of the bridge began in FY 2020 in anticipation of construction beginning in FY 2028. |
