Description
Description | The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA), managed by the African Development Bank (AfDB), has signed a deal to extend EUR 6 million (USD 6.9m) in concessional loans for French Qair’s 18-MW solar project in Burkina Faso. The financing agreement includes a EUR-2.5 million senior concessional loan and a reimbursable grant of EUR 3.5 million, complemented by loans from the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO). The photovoltaic project will be built in the city of Dedougou and will operate under a 25-year power purchase agreement with the national power company Sonabel. The project aligns with AfDB's Desert-to-Power initiative targeting 10 GW of solar power across 11 Sahelian countries by 2030, aiming to improve energy security, diversify the energy mix, and reduce electricity costs in Burkina Faso. |
