Description | SmartCentres is redeveloping its 28-acre Walmart-anchored site at 1900 Eglinton East in Toronto. This site is in close proximity to Highway 401 and the Don Valley Parkway, and the new Eglinton Crosstown LRT, which will have 2 stations (Pharmacy and Hakimi Lebovic) directly along the property’s perimeter. An Official Plan Amendment application was submitted to the City of Toronto in August 2019, outlining the framework for a masterplan vision to transform this property “From Shopping Centre to City Centre”. A Site Plan Application for the first phase of this masterplan was submitted February 2021, proposing a high-density mixed-use development consisting of two residential towers developed by SmartLiving (SmartCentres’ residential sub-brand). These towers, (designed by architectsAlliance) are 38 and 40 storeys respectively They will accommodate 900 residential units combined as well as 1,219 square metres of retail space at-grade along Eglinton Avenue East. |
