Description

Description

Two decades of experience in the production and programming of film festivals will contribute to the implementation of innovative strategies in the 19th and 20th editions of the Free Zone Film festival that will reflect in expanding the reach of geographically diverse art house films; in developing a hybrid display modality that will bring the festival programme even closer to the audience; in developing a new audience and building their taste and level of film and digital literacy (with a focus on children aged 8-14 and young people aged 14-25) and in recognizing current trends in promoting and spreading digital formats and transforming the digital industry as a new reality in creation, distribution and consumption of films. In the years 2023 and 2024, the Free Zone intends to promote and increase the visibility of more than 100 films that will attract an audience of 30,000 visitors per year, while the complementary online space VoD platform Kinokauch will make the film programme available to viewers from all over the country. The growth of the quantity and quality of the festival will also be contributed by accompanying program activities devoted to discussions about the issues that are initiated by the program lines (ecology and environment, inclusion, global ideological and economic trends, human and LGBTQ+ rights, migration, etc.). In addition, the Festival will continue to improve educational and industry programs, as well as the capacities of the local and regional film industry, enabling the exchange of best practices in digital transformation with the aim of pooling existing resources and mobilizing the potential of regional distribution.
