Description
Description | The town-twinning relationship between the Austrian Rechnitz and Hungarian Lábatlan has been in place for over 20 years, and through this project, we aim to provide a fitting celebration to further strengthen their cooperation for the coming years. Kravany and Dunajom (SK) maintains daily connections with Lábatlan, and their cooperation has a history of 25-years. Our Town-Twinning project, organized as part of the now traditional City Days, aims not only to reinforce our partnerships with twin municipalities but also to promote the values of the EU as widely as possible. In this context, the project focuses on current EU topics, as well as supporting equal opportunities, solidarity, and commitment to volunteering. The series of events under this project will take place in the Gerenday Garden located in the centre of Lábatlan, as well as along the banks of the Danube River. Both locations are of great significance to the city, as they play a key role in the city’s climate strategy efforts, including adapting to the adverse effects of climate change, revitalizing urban green spaces, enhancing water retention capacity, and expanding plant diversity. These areas also serve educational purposes, and as such, the project’s specific theme will centre around climate protection solutions and showcasing ways to adapt to the impacts of climate change, which are everyday concerns for towns and cities. An important aspect of the project is the discussion of current and future issues related to the EU, fostering communication between different generations and nations, and strengthening long-term tolerance and acceptance. This will be facilitated by embedding EU-related topics and opportunities into the cultural program, bringing these closer to the citizens and integrating them into their daily lives. The participation of different nationalities will also amplify the dissemination of these values and the project’s outcomes. |
