2020-2024 Bus Refurbishments

• The project consists of the rehabilitation of 300 conventional and hybrid urban transit buses to extend their useful life from the design life of 12 years to 18 years and allow Brampton Transit to maintain current reliability standards. • The project will include the refurbishment of major structural components such as floor, supporting frame, suspension, axles, brakes, steering, windows, seating and body. It will also include the refurbishment of engines and transmission components including pistons, liners, bearings, fuel system, emission controls and friction materials. Hybrid systems including bearings, drive motors and electrical harnesses will also be refurbished. These upgrades are projected to extend the useful life of urban transit buses from the design life of 12 years to 18 years and allow Brampton Transit to increase the Mean Distance Between Failure (MDBF) of refurbished buses to the Brampton Transit overall average target of 20,000km. • The project will result in improved capacity, quality and safety and access to the public infrastructure system in Brampton, Ontario.
