Description | This scope of the work involves asphalt resurfacing approximately 74.3 kilometers across Prince Edward Island. The rehabilitation of these essential roads will extend the life of assets by 15-20 years. Roadways to farms, fishing harbors, processing plants, tourist destinations, and rural communities will be improved. Work will include overlaying the existing asphalt surface with 45 mm of new material to increase the structural strength and ride quality. Some sections will also have the resurfacing completed on the shoulders of the roads to increase pedestrian and cyclist safety. Investing and improving roadways in and around rural areas will contribute to the success of those communities. The project aims to improve the improve more reliable road infrastructure to benefit all Islanders and industry. |
