Description

Description

Capacity Reserve Auctions aim to guarantee the continuity of the supply of electrical energy, with a view to meeting the need for power and/or energy required by the SIN, allowing consumers to be served at any time, with reliability and safety, even in critical periods. In the 2021 Capacity Reserve Auction, the contract was sought for electrical power and energy associated with the generation of inflexible energy from new or existing electrical energy generation projects, from a thermoelectric source, with the concomitant issuance of authorization or adequacy of existing grant. The event was held on 12/21/2021. As a result of the public session, 4,632 MW of available power were negotiated in the Capacity Reserve Auction, with an average discount of 15.34%, to begin supply on June 1, 2026 and with a supply period of 15 years. 17 thermoelectric projects powered by natural gas, fuel oil, diesel oil and sugar cane bagasse were the winners. In total, R$ 57 billion were negotiated in capacity reserve contracts that will provide investments of around R$ 5.9 billion, whose potential for job creation during the implementation period is around 13 thousand jobs, including positions maintained by hiring existing enterprises.
