Description

Description

This project scope consists of upgrades to approximately 52.531 kilometres of local roads across central Prince Edward Island. The scope of work will include asphalt resurfacing existing road infrastructure. The project aims to improve the structural strength and ride quality of these roads and will extend the life of the assets by 15-20 years. The improvements to these roads in rural areas of Prince Edward Island are vital to sustaining the Islands continued population growth. Many of these roads have seen increased residential and commercial traffic over the years and have not had any significant changes in respect to their design and function. Improvements to these roadways will benefit all islanders and industry. Roadways to farms, fishing harbours, processing plants, tourist destinations and rural communities will be improved. Investing and improving roadways in and around rural areas will contribute to the success of those communities. Among the priorities of our Department we have been working hard in developing a plan to address the infrastructure needs for rural Islanders while working with federal partners. All work will be completed in the existing provincial right of way.
