Statistics Portugal expresses the interest to organise the 11th Quality Conference in 2024 in Lisbon, Portugal. The project proposal is aimed at implementing a successful, well-planned, and hopefully remarkable 2024 Quality Conference (Q2024) in Portugal. The planning proposal foresees a series of crucial and feasible milestones targeted at fully profiting from Statistics Portugal's technical expertise in the Quality domain (e.g. internationally acknowledged experts, a team with high expertise staff to prepare the conference, and longstanding participation in the Quality Conferences Programme Committees,) and in the organisation of large-scale international events (e.g. 57th ISI 2007, IMAODBC 2011 and 2014, EU-SILC 2014, DGINS 2015, SCORUS 2016, PT EU Presidency 2021, Statistical Conferences of the Portuguese-speaking Community, among others). Such an event will also draw attention from Government organizations to the importance of high quality - and at the same time timely and more detailed - statistics and increase awareness of producers and users on the challenges faced by Official Statistics. Some of the most challenging issues include ensuring quality as a basis for creating and maintaining trust of users, innovative methods for assuring quality, use of alternative data sources, producing experimental statistics, especially in times of critical situations. Statistics Portugal is fully committed to addressing these relevant topics, balancing the capacity-building dimension with awareness raising for broader stakeholder engagement. Lastly, this event will also benefit from the natural and cultural assets of Lisbon and its surroundings in late Spring, thus making it the perfect setting for a memorable Quality Conference.
