Description | San Antonio's Office of Sustainability and two community organizations, Fuerza Unida and Adaptation International, received a $96,000 grant to address extreme heat in the South San neighborhood. The project aims to advance collaborative efforts to mitigate the risk of extreme heat to elderly and low-income residents, continuing work from the first phase and building leadership and community engagement. The grant funds activities such as the Neighborhood Cooling Committee, Youth Green Workforce and Community Canopy Program, community stipends, outreach, interpretation, and assistance with meetings and workshops. The Office of Sustainability provides in-kind support including technical support, trees, and training from the Urban Forestry Department. |
