2026 European conference on quality in official statistics

Eurostat and the European Union National Statistical Institutes have committed themselves to a strategy of continuous quality improvement, as a result of the work accomplished by the European Leadership Expert Group (LEG) on Quality in 2001. A clear need to improve co-operation and exchange among the European Union National Statistical Institutes (NSIs) in the field of quality in statistics was identified. In particular, it was agreed to establish a series of biennial scientific gatherings covering important methodological and quality-related topics of relevance to the European Statistical System (ESS). Eurostat and the European Union National Statistical Institutes have committed themselves to a strategy of continuous quality improvement, as a result of the work accomplished by the European Leadership Expert Group (LEG) on Quality in 2001. Croatian Bureau of Statistics expresses the interest for organising the 12th European Conference on Quality in Official Statistics in 2026 (Q2026) in the city of Šibenik, Croatia. The overall objectives of the Conference will be bringing together the greatest possible number of statisticians, academia and stakeholders from NSIs and ONAs in the ESS and beyond, enforcing dissemination of knowledge and recent research in emerging issues related to Quality in Official Statistics, fostering and increasing cooperation between users and producers, enhancing cooperation and participation in projects with the scientific community as well as exchanging good practices and sustainable approaches when meeting new challenges. Such event will also draw attention of Government organizations to the importance of high quality, at the same time timely and more detailed statistics, and increase awareness of producers and users of challenges faced by Official Statistics in ensuring quality, use of alternative data sources, producing experimental statistics, especially in times of critical situations.
