The Australian government has unveiled a $425 billion multibillion-dollar 2026 National Defence Strategy and a revamped Integrated Investment Program aimed at overhauling the Australian Defence Force to respond to a complex and threatening strategic environment. The plan focuses on self-reliance, modernizing military capabilities across all warfighting domains, including nuclear-powered submarines, surface ships, long-range strike capabilities, integrated air and missile defense, autonomous systems, and secure satellite communications. The strategy also emphasizes boosting the sovereign defence industrial base and supporting personnel recruitment and retention.
