Description

Description

The state government plans to set up 2,250 biogas plants in Ayodhya, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Gonda districts as a pilot project under the CM's Gram-Urja Model. The biogas produced will be used by villagers to reduce piped gas consumption and provide cheap fuel to farmers near their fields. If successful, the project will be extended to 2.50 lakh rural households over the next four years. The cost per biogas unit is Rs 39,300, with farmers paying Rs 3,990 and the rest subsidized by the government and carbon credit model. The project has received formal approval from the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. Additionally, 43 cow shelters will be equipped with biogas and manure production units to generate slurry for nearby farmers, aiming to reduce LPG usage by 70% in rural kitchens.
