2.5 GW Gas-Plus-Nuclear Hybrid Power Plant

Blue Energy and GE Vernova plan a 2.5-GW hybrid power plant in Texas combining gas turbine and nuclear generation. The plant will use GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy's BWRX-300 small modular reactors housed in steel monopiles adapted from offshore wind turbine technology, alongside two GE Vernova 7HA.02 gas turbines generating 1,000 MW. The design allows phased construction and operation, with gas turbines providing flexible power and nuclear reactors supplying baseload power, sharing a common turbine hall and grid connection.
