Description

Description

The Belgrade Auteur Film Festival (FAF) was created in 1994, at a time when Serbia was under sanctions and culturally isolated from the world. The festival came on stage offering “a view into the world”, as its first slogan claimed, immediately gaining a cult status. Nowadays, FAF is Serbia’s pivotal film event for the promotion of independent, arthouse and European cinema. The activities of the Belgrade Auteur Film Festival for the next two years comprise several actions, most importantly the 27th and 28th editions of the Festival, specialized activities for the youngest (the yearly Kids Fest), satellite activities throughout the year in Belgrade and across Serbia, as well as a number of activities dedicated to film professionals. FAF also aims at strengthening the international cooperation actions in place mainly through the Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region and establishing new partnerships. The festival’s main objectives are to promote the diversity offered by European cinema, to work on audience development (with a focus on younger audiences) and to implement film literacy initiatives. The festival is committed to having a greater representation of European talent, dedicating more resources into initiatives of decentralization and revitalization of cinema screens in the province, offering digital distribution alternatives for European films, implementing different actions to raise public awareness on issues of environmental sustainability, climate change and gender equality, as well as increasing the visibility of films and talents coming from European non-national lower-capacity countries.
