Description

Description

"Founded in 1994, during a period of cultural isolation and international sanctions, the Belgrade Auteur Film Festival (FAF) emerged as Serbia’s window to the world. With its inaugural slogan, ""A View into the World,"" the festival quickly gained cult status. Today, FAF stands as Serbia’s leading platform for independent, arthouse, and European cinema. Over the next two years, FAF will carry out several key initiatives, including the 31st and 32nd festival editions, the annual Kids Fest for young audiences, year-round satellite events across Belgrade and Serbia, and specialized programs for film professionals. The festival is dedicated to strengthening international collaborations, particularly through the Network of Festivals in the Adriatic Region, while forging new global partnerships. FAF’s core mission is to celebrate the diversity of European cinema, cultivate audience development - especially among younger generations - and promote film literacy. The festival is committed to having a greater representation of European talent, dedicating more resources into initiatives of decentralization and revitalization of cinema screens in the province, offering digital distribution alternatives for European films, implementing different actions to raise public awareness on issues of environmental sustainability, climate change and gender equality, as well as increasing the visibility of films and talents coming from European non-national lower-capacity countries. FAF remains a dynamic force in shaping Serbia’s film culture, bridging international cinematic voices with local audiences, and championing the power of independent cinema."
