Description

Canadian energy storage developer Peak Power Inc has brought into commercial operation a 3.6-MW/7.2-MWh lithium-ion battery energy storage system (BESS) at automotive supplier Vuteq Canada's factory in Woodstock, Ontario. The battery system is owned and financed by Madison Energy Infrastructure, with Peak Power managing its operation. The installation helps Vuteq reduce peak electricity costs and participate in Ontario's demand response programmes. The project also included the installation of six Level 2 electric vehicle chargers under Canada's Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP), and upgrades to the facility's electrical infrastructure including two new switchgear bays. The BESS is managed through Peak Power's energy management platform to optimize charging and discharging.
