Description

Description

This project entails the construction and operation of a 400 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Surendranagar District, Gujarat, India. Developed by Enren Energy Private Limited, a special-purpose vehicle owned by ENGIE Group, the plant will use locally manufactured bifacial photovoltaic modules, supporting India’s solar manufacturing sector. The Asian Development Bank (ADB), as the mandated lead arranger, along with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), is providing financing of 14.6 billion Indian rupees (around $175.9 million) in local currency loans. Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, a state-owned electricity distributor, will be the sole offtaker. The plant is expected to generate an average of 805 gigawatt-hours annually over the next 25 years, avoiding nearly 662,441 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. Financial approval has taken place in July, 2023. https://www.adb.org/news/adb-engie-sa-partner-build-400-mw-solar-powerplant-gujarat-india
