Description

Description

The Muckalee Creek Mitigation site consists of 348 acres of wetland restoration on a 398 acre tract and partial stream restoration through the removal of 8000 feet of a streamside dike along Muckalee Creek. Wetland restoration would be accomplished by backfilling approximately 6.7 miles of an extensive wetland ditching system and planting of native bottomland shrub and hardwood tree species. The completed mitigation bank would hold a credit value of 1356 wetland credits ($4,747,085 commercial credit value) and 105,971 stream credits ($4,768,698 commercial credit value). These credits would be used to offset wetland and stream impacts caused by GDOT projects within the Flint River Basin, which will enable the Department to obtain required Corps of Engineer 404 permits. The Flint River Basin extends from South Fulton County to the Southwest border of the state.
