5-GW Solar Cell and Module Manufacturing Plant in Uttar Pradesh

Indian renewables developer SAEL Industries Ltd has pledged to invest INR 82 billion (USD 955.3 million) in a new solar cell and module manufacturing plant in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The facility will have the capacity to produce 5 GW of TOPCon photovoltaic cells and solar modules. The project will be realized through subsidiary SAEL Solar P6 Pvt Ltd and will increase the group's total solar production capacity to 8.5 GW. The factory is planned to be located in Greater Noida, Gautam Buddha Nagar district, under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). Construction works are slated to commence later in 2025. The project aligns with the Indian Government's Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), requiring all solar cells used in government projects to be sourced from approved domestic manufacturers from June 2026.
