Description | The 5/31 Memorial project in Virginia Beach honors the 12 victims killed in the May 31, 2019 mass shooting at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center. The memorial includes symbolic features such as 150 lights in the trees representing 150 years of service lost, engraved birthdays, and a time capsule with notes from loved ones. While much of the memorial has been completed, work will continue after the upcoming ceremony for landscaping and installation of permanent fixtures. |
