Description
Description | "The project aims to establish a large-scale ""hybrid"" 5G SA network within a hospital, equipped with indoor antennas and AI-ready edge cloud capabilities, highlighting its socio-economic and environmental impacts. Across the EU, especially in France, the healthcare sector faces ongoing pressure to continuously elevate service quality and provide cutting-edge, efficient patient care. Technologies like 5G SA and edge cloud, enhanced by AI applications, present a powerful solution by revolutionizing hospitals' data resources and operational processes. Covering five geographical sites and 18 buildings, and addressing 10 use cases across seven medical services, this comprehensive pilot tackles essential challenges: the quality of care, patient and staff welfare, innovation in healthcare, performance, and security. Aiming for broad coverage and diverse use cases from the beginning, the project is set to create beneficial spillover effects and facilitate future expansions. It will also ensure economies of scale when extending existing use cases to new sites or developing new ones based on the current framework. This strategy allows for rapid and straightforward scaling when necessary. The features of the 5G network will significantly streamline and expedite the set-up, monitoring, and advancement of dedicated use cases. Through an edge cloud approach and a ""GPU as a service"" strategy, complex use cases can be implemented and scaled swiftly. The project’s success is anticipated to propel the development of the 5G market across the EU, serving as a model and source of inspiration for other project initiators. It holds potential applications in various Services of General Economic Interest, such as healthcare, as well as in other sectors like airports, ports, manufacturing, and more." |
