The project implements 5G infrastructure along a rail cross-border section of the North Sea Rhine Mediterranean corridor between Paris (France) and Brussels (Belgium),for the benefits of train passengers’ connectivity and digitalization of rail operations. It provides: • Digitalization of rail operation through development of FRMCS interoperable networks by both rail Infrastructure Managers (IM), to support modernised and optimised railway operation in Europe. • High-end connectivity for train passengers through 5G coverage by 4 Public Mobile Network Operators (MNO) and the optimisation of other technology use along the corridor. Activities include final detailed studies for fine-tuning 5G coverage and FRMCS and deployment works to build new towers, update transport digital network and install new 5G equipment along the railway tracks for all operators. As a result, a whole rail route on a major European transport corridor will be covered by 5G, , thus offering a continuity of service to passengers. The project will also be the base for pioneer FRMCS network development in Europe.
