Description
Description | The project addresses the urgent need to accelerate the deployment of advanced digital infrastructure in Italy, with a focus on 5G networks as an enabler of modern mobility, logistics, healthcare, and emergency services. By doing so, it contributes to the broader European and national strategies aimed at strengthening digital connectivity, resilience, and innovation. The action aims to establish a scalable and interoperable 5G infrastructure in Italy, capable of supporting both industrial applications and public services. It seeks to enhance efficiency, safety, and security in strategic sectors by integrating 5G Standalone networks, hybrid federated networks, edge computing, and cloud services. The project will expand 5G coverage in selected industrial and urban areas, and it will test practical applications through a variety of use cases. These include advanced logistics and drone deliveries, smart mobility solutions, telemedicine, and improved emergency response systems. The project will also explore innovative approaches such as secure communications through Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and remote artificial intelligence training via High-Performance Computing (HPC). The action is expected to deliver significant benefits to businesses, public administrations, and communities by enabling safer, faster, and more reliable digital services. It will contribute to Italy’s long-term digital transformation, reinforce competitiveness in industrial and technological innovation, and improve the quality of essential services for citizens. |
