7 TIE Structure Replacements

The project consists of the replacement of 7 buried culvert structures (either plastic, concrete, or corrugated metal) at 7 locations across the province. The length of assets receiving investment is approximately 1.5 KM. The project will result in all new structures, asphalt and slope protection. The project scope includes: - installation of environmental controls (silt fences, straw mulch, silt booms, check dams, retention ponds); - clearing and grubbing of vegetation; - excavation of earthen material to gain access to the buried structures for removal; - removal and disposal of the existing buried structures; - provision of temporary stream alignments in order to install new structures; - preparation of base material for new structures; - installation of new buried structures; - supply, placement and compaction of suitable backfill material over the new structures; - supply, placement and compaction of roadway base gravels and asphalt base and wearing surfaces; - supply and placement of topsoil and hydroseed; and - site clean-up. The current structures are in poor condition and in a state of disrepair. The structures need to be replaced in order to maintain a level of public safety on the provincial highway network. The project will benefit the community by providing safer and more reliable road infrastructure.
