700,000 bpd Kenya Refinery

Dangote Industries Limited has commenced preliminary development activities for its planned 700,000-barrel-per-day oil refinery in Lamu, Kenya. The project has progressed beyond planning with site selection completed and engineering preparations underway, including geotechnical investigations and design work. The refinery aims to become East Africa's largest petroleum processing facility, supplying refined products to Kenya and neighboring countries, reducing reliance on imported fuels. The project is expected to take approximately three years to complete and will be financed through internally generated funds, bond issuances, and proceeds from a planned public listing of Dangote's refining business.
