The project involves the establishment of a 700-megawatt capacity combined-cycle gas-fired power plant under a build-own-operate (BOO) model by Etihad Development Company, a subsidiary of Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE). The project includes the establishment of a natural gas supply point by Jordanian Egyptian FAJR for Natural Gas Transmission and Supply Co (Fajr). The power plant is expected to supply around 10 percent of Jordan's electricity demand and will operate under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) as the off-taker. The project is structured as a joint venture with the Jordanian government holding a 49 percent stake and the private partner holding the rest.
