Description | The 75 MW Graspan Solar PV plant near Hopetown in the Siyancuma Local Municipality was inaugurated on 21 April 2026. It adds clean energy capacity under South Africa's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) Bid Window 5, supplying electricity to around 80,000 households and offsetting approximately 130,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The plant has been feeding power into the grid for several months and was developed alongside the Grootspruit Solar PV plant in the Free State, delivering a combined capacity of 150 MW. |
