900-foot Fully Accessible Boardwalk at Tahquamenon Falls

under construction

Construction is nearing completion on a new 900-foot fully accessible boardwalk at the Upper Falls at Tahquamenon Falls State Park in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The boardwalk replaces the park’s steep 94-step staircase with an accessible, winding path through the forest, featuring anti-slip surfacing, railings, mesh siding, and five landings with benches and views of the Tahquamenon River and old-growth trees. The final deck brings visitors right to the brink of Michigan’s largest waterfall. The boardwalk accommodates wheelchairs, strollers, and those with limited mobility.
