Description

Description

The Raccoon Creek Mitigation site proposes to restore more than three miles of channelized stream along Raccoon Creek and one of its tributaries through the construction of new, meandering stream channels. Wetland restoration would be accomplished by backfilling over 8,000 feet of agricultural ditching and the planting of native bottomland shrub and hardwood tree species. The completed bank proposes to generate 373,431 stream credits ($16,804,415 commercial credit value) and 255 wetland credits ($892,675 commercial credit value). These credits would be used to offset wetland and stream impacts caused by GDOT projects within the Flint River Basin, which will enable the Department to obtain required Corps of Engineer 404 permits. The Flint River Basin extends from South Fulton County to the Southwest border of the state.
