The social and political changes in recent years have had a significant impact on the well-being of citizens and changes are required in the learning process, so that the school can prepare citizens who actively participate , who have critical thinking and an interest in the protection of citizens and of Nature. The Primary School of Vareia is located on a remote island in the North Aegean and has been facing the refugee crisis in recent years. Within this particular cultural and social environment, the need to upgrade teachers' knowledge of the values of the European Union such as coexistence, acceptance and respect for citizens' rights becomes imperative. The Primary School of Vareia has extensive experience in implementing programs of participation in European programs and collaborations to cultivate the values of the European Unifying Idea and the ideals for a stronger Europe with social and cultural welfare Through the collaboration with the University of the Aegean, Europe Direct Aegean and Voluntary Organizations such as the High Commissioner and the Europe Relief Organization and the Lesvos Community Center, the school will transfer knowledge and good practices to students and school structures that need it. The aim of the project is to empower teachers, students and parents and transform the school unit into a learning community. Students will become tomorrow's active citizens who will fight for a strong European Union. Seminars, workshops, multiplier events will contribute to the achievement of our goals. Teachers, parents and students from different cultural backgrounds will be recipients of the results.
