Due to the themes and the setting of “A Girl From Tallinn” we’ve approached the project as an organic co-production from the very start. So our goal is to foster collaboration in creating a distinctive Eastern European co-production drama series involving three countries, Estonia, Bulgaria and Ukraine. We aim for scalability by crafting a project that not only mirrors contemporary history but also possesses enduring appeal. Additionally the series masterfully blends several genres: classic crime noir, mystery, love story and pulp ction. We want to mention the genre specifically as in its essence “A Girl from Tallin” is a story about redemption and getting a second chance. This theme plays out and will resonate on both character and national and even regional levels. We plan to implement a groundbreaking for Eastern Europe countries financial model and incorporate other inventive tools during the production phase. Our financial model is designed to address the unique circumstances arising from the war in Ukraine. So innovation is our next goal. And last but not least is sustainability. We are committed to green production. By filming Ukrainian cast mostly in Ukraine, and Estonian cast – in Estonia, we can minimize the air travel and use local resources. With our project we will foster synergy among broadcasters from different countries. Filming will take place in Ukraine and Estonia, with post-production in Bulgaria. From the very beginning of the project, we felt it was important to have Estonian, Bulgarian and Ukrainian talent well represented both on- and off-screen. With our casting choices, we mirror the characters’ journeys and the Estonian, Ukrainian and Bulgarian experiences of leaving behind the Soviet past. The multiple timelines and locations offer a wonderful opportunity to achieve representation on screen organically.
