Description

The Module aims at the development of teaching activities and dissemination events on EU relations with African countries and the African Union. 1. Objectives: - to strengthen European Union studies within the Department of Political Sciences of the University of Perugia. - to integrate EU issues into the undergraduate and graduate courses offered by other Departments of Perugia University. - to raise awareness of and disseminate information on the EU role in world affairs among high school teachers and students as well as a wider public - to foster dialogue between academics, local, national and EU officials, policy-makers and the media. 2. Activities - type/number of persons benefiting from the project: - A short course Target group: University students 10 lecturers; at least 40 students per year - Seminars on specific aspects of EU-African relations Target group: BA and MA students in international Relations 3 lecturers; at least 40 students per year - A training course aimed at high-school teachers Target group: high school teachers and, indirectly, high school students 6 lecturers; at least 50 high-school teachers - Roundtables debates Target group: students and the general public 3 speakers per year; at least 60 participants per year - A final Conference Target group: Academics; university students; EU and AU representatives or officials; local and national policy-makers; representatives of NGOs 10 speakers; 80 participants 3. Expected Results - University students will gain a deeper understanding of EU role in world affairs. - Perugia University will widen its offer on EU related issues. - High-school teachers will enhance their knowledge of EU policies that will transfer to their students. - EU and national officials will have the opportunity to enrich their understanding of the external perceptions of EU policies. 4. Outputs - A website - An edited book - Didactic materials for high-school teachers
