The motorway follows a 152 km north-south route divided into two phases, linking one of Poland's largest cities, Gdansk, on the Baltic Sea, with the city of Torun.The A1 motorway project in Poland comprises two phases:Phase 1 - approximately 90km from Gdansk to Nowe Marzy in northern PolandPhase 2 - an extension of approximately 60km to Torun at the southern end of the motorwayThe concession was awarded in two phases in 2004 and 2008, respectively. The northern section entered into commercial operation in 2008 and the southern section in 2011. The concession expires in 2039.The motorway forms part of the Pan European Transport Corridor VI.
