A465 Heads of the Valleys Road Improvement Scheme

SOCOTEC has taken on the role of principal contractor for ground investigation works along part of the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road Sections 5 & 6 (Dowlais Top to Hirwaun). This key route provides a strategic connection from central England through to Merthyr Tydfil and Swansea, comprising contrasting scenery within the Brecon Beacons National Park and the industrialised areas of South Wales. The project involves widening the existing three-lane carriageway road into a dual carriageway, realigning or constructing new sections of highways and junctions, and associated structures and earthworks such as retaining walls, embankments, and cuttings.
