Description | Two rival consortia led by Saipem and Technip Energies are in advanced talks with shipyards for work on the floating production, storage and offloading vessel destined for Inpex’s $20 billion Abadi liquefied natural gas project offshore Indonesia. The FEED work is nearing completion, and yard partners are being secured ahead of the final investment decision expected in 2027. The Saipem consortium has selected China Offshore Engineering & Technology as subcontractor for the hull, some topsides and integration work, while the Technip Energies consortium will work with Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry for a similar scope. McDermott, part of the Saipem consortium, will use its joint venture yard Qingdao McDermott Wuchuan to build some topsides, with other topsides constructed at Saipem and McDermott’s facilities in Indonesia. |
