Description

Description

The Joint Abbotsford-Mission Environmental System (JAMES) Wastewater Treatment Plant’s anaerobic digesters currently produce biogas as a process byproduct. The biogas is used for process loads and for heating facility buildings, while the remainder is flared. Rather than flaring, the proposed project will add equipment to upgrade the unused biogas to approximately 35,000 GJ/yr of renewable natural gas (RNG). The RNG will be sold to FortisBC Energy for distribution to British Columbia customers, thus displacing the use of fossil-based natural gas. Outside this project scope, FortisBC will install the pipeline connection from the treatment plant to the provincial gas grid. The project will make better use of renewable energy by upgrading unused biogas to RNG for public use. The project works include: - biogas upgrading equipment, on-site piping, and fittings; - on-site renewable natural gas connection ready for external gas pipeline; - site work, access roads/paths, mechanical, electrical, control/monitoring, signage, and other related works and appurtenances.
