The proposed IFC investment comprises of a loan of up to US$30 million to support Abdali Medical Center’s (“AMC” or the “Company”) capital expenditure and operational needs during ramp-up period (the “Project”). AMC is a new 200-bed multi-specialty hospital located in the heart of Amman city, Jordan that commenced operations in July 2019. AMC is founded by the Abu Ghazaleh family (the “Sponsor”), are investors with a track record of starting and growing successful businesses in the Middle East globally. The Hospital’s leadership is comprised of Mr. Mohammed Abu Ghazaleh and Mr. Ahmad Abu Ghazaleh, chairman and vice chairman/CEO respectively who are the founders of AMC. The Company will be governed by a board of directors with shareholders representatives as well as subject matter experts. The day to day operations will be managed by the CEO and a team of qualified and experienced professionals.The Hospital is established on 80,494 m2 of built-up area in a building having 35 floors and 4 basements with a foot print of 5,544 m2 (plot areas). Building construction work including civil, electrical, mechanical and plumbing works have already been completed with all basic utilities installed. AMC plans to roll out operations in phases, with 60 operational beds as a first phase in July 2019. The first phase includes Centers of Excellence for orthopaedics and rheumatology, cardiovascular, and gastro-intestinal and bariatric health; these are supported by services such as anaesthesia, pathology, radiology, dialysis, emergency department, intensive care, and pharmacy. The critical care includes ICU, CCU, ER, Prep-Recovery units. AMC will also offer strategic services in medical departments such as neurology, oncology/haematology, dermatology, pulmonology, and family medicine, as well as surgical departments such as ENT, neurosurgery, and urology. The 3 lower basements of the AMC building are used for parking facilities and utilities (power generators, laundry, water storage and treatment, wastewater treatment, firefighting, waste storage, etc.); basement 1 up to 9th floor are for speciality hospital services; up to 20 floors are planned for out-patient services; 3 floors for administration use; and the rest of the floors for wards and other ancillary services including food preparation and serving areas. AMC also has a conference centre and auditorium to host c.90 attendees and several small rooms with facilities in place for hosting professional trainings, including on-boarding sessions for nurses and technical staff. AMC would be a Centre of Excellence and have plans to become, by 2022, a teaching hospital, in collaboration with the Medical Faculties of Jordanian Universities.
