Abydos solar PV plant

The project includes the construction of the 560MW Abydos solar PV plant, located in the Aswan Governorate, Egypt. The project will be implemented by Abydos Solar Power Company S.A.E, a special purpose vehicle owned by AMEA Power. AMEA Power signed with local utility Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) the 25-year PPA for the independent power project back in December 2019 at $0.0248/kWh. The PPA is fully guaranteed by Egypt’s Ministry of Finance. The total cost of the project is $330 million, financed on a 80:20 debt-to-equity ratio. The debt financing is being provided by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO).
