Academia Film Olomouc (AFO) is a year-round platform dedicated to science documentary audiovisual works, their promotion, distribution, and to professionalization of the related audiovisual industry. Beyond its significant position in the industry sector, AFO plays a crucial role in education, community building, and enhancing the attractiveness and quality of its region. AFO's activities began in 1966 with the establishment of the eponymous festival, organized by Palacký University in Olomouc. A stable background oriented towards innovation and healthy growth has created quality foundations for the development of the mentioned festival, but also foundations for the emergence of many other activities, such as a year-round screening program, educational activities, industry program or VOD platform. AFO aims to increase audience engagement with non-national European scientific and documentary content by showcasing a significant proportion of European productions. With our demonstrated festival audience growth the from 4,067 visitors in 2014 to 8,798 visitors in 2024 (20,500 visitors in total) and an expanding film program that reached 300 events in 2024, as well as an increase in audience at our year-round presentation and educational activities (2024: 4,800 visitors) AFO has established itself as a vital, open and popular platform for European audiovisual works. The goals of this project are: - Safeguard, Develop and Promote European Cultural and Linguistic Diversity through Science Documentary Content - Promote and Increase the Competitiveness and Economic Potential of the Audiovisual Sector - Enhance Artistic and Cultural Cooperation at the European Level - Enhance the Circulation and Promotion of European Audiovisual Works - Support Audience Engagement and Development, Particularly Young Audiences - Implement Sustainable and Inclusive Practices
