Description
Description | The development objective of Accelerating Sustainable and Clean Energy Access Transformation in Ethiopia Project is to increase access to sustainable and clean energy in Eastern and Southern Africa. This Program for Results (PforR) aims to support Ethiopia’s ambition to achieve universal access to modern, affordable, reliable, and high-quality electricity services by 2030 to fulfill SDG7 and build resilience of its national grid against climate hazards. The GoE vision for universal access to energy by 2030 is articulated in the 10-Year Development Plan of Ethiopia (2021-2030) and the National Sustainable Energy Development Strategy (N-SEDS, 2024 – 2030). Pillar 1, Goal 7 of the 10-year Development Plan of Ethiopia is “to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all”. NEP Pillar 2 – Off-grid service provisioning, the rapid pace of electrification required to deliver universal access requires a stronger focus on off-grid electrification, especially in areas where the grid will not reach before 2030. NEP Pillar 3 – Sector capacity and institutional reform, focuses on providing the necessary technical assistance and capacity-building support required by the sector institutions to achieve the ambitious targets set under Pillars 1 and 2 by directly supporting the achievement of outcomes from the first two pillars. |
