Access Bank of Tanzania Technical Assistance FAPA Grant

This operation involves a USD 660,000 technical assistance loan from the Private Sector Technical Assistance Fund (FAPA) to Access Bank of Tanzania (ABT). ABT is a new commercial bank specializing in microfinance whose mission is to provide financial services to low-income populations in Tanzania. The contribution of FAPA technical assistance, which represents 15% of the overall technical assistance envelope for the ABT, will be used to co-finance the capacity building of ABT in its first years of operation. More specifically, these funds will be used to finance the services of a long-term credit management consultant as well as short-term experts for the implementation of new information management systems and for staff training. Their use should cover the costs of these experts for the first three years of operation, after which they will be replaced by trained local staff.
