The Project aims to increase access to water supply, sanitation, and electricity services and improve performance in the water supply and electricity sectors in Gabon. The Project finances: (i) the construction and rehabilitation of water supply and electricity infrastructure in urban and rural areas; (ii) technical assistance to sector institutions to improve their capacities to plan, develop, manage, monitor and regulate water, sanitation, and electricity services; (iii) the procurement and installation of meters, regularization of connections, extension of access to both services, and improved management systems to reduce losses and improve cost-recovery and service continuity, particularly in Greater Libreville where 36 percent of the Gabonese live; (iv) the construction of a fecal sludge treatment plant in Greater Libreville; and (v) studies for critical short- and medium-term investments to improve electricity service delivery in Gabon.
